Pure Giant Bee Honey

Pure Giant Bee Honey is raw wild honey from the hives of the giant honey bee (Apis dorsata), known in Pakistan as bari makhi. It is also called jungle honey or jangli shahad. We strain it and bottle it without heating or adding anything.

What does giant bee honey taste like?

It is deep amber with a thick texture and a strong, earthy forest flavour. It is bolder than farmed honey and the lighter small bee honey.

How is it different from small bee honey?

Giant bees build large open hives high in forest trees, so harvests are bigger and the honey is darker and stronger. Small bee honey (Apis florea) comes from tiny wild bees, is lighter in colour and milder in taste, and is harvested in smaller amounts.

Why has my honey become thick or grainy?

Raw honey crystallises naturally in cool weather. This is normal and does not mean it is fake. Stand the bottle in lukewarm water and it will turn liquid again.

How do people use it?

• A spoonful with warm water in the morning
• In place of sugar in tea, lassi and desserts
• On paratha, toast or with yogurt
